Band Reviews.

Amazing Baby.

Although always a compliment, this band have been wrongfully dubbed as the new MGMT. Yes there are a few similarities and undisputed coincidences; They are often off their faces and off the rails, they have risen from the same area in New York as MGMT, Brooklyn, and not to mention going to the same posh liberal University in Connecticut. It is becoming obvious to see why the media is jumping to these conclusions.

However we feel that Amazing Baby are intruding on something a little bit more Rock n Roll.

The band have been together for a mere 18 months now and they've quite amazingly only had their myspace page since February 2008. Already they are filling venues with their psychedelic vibes and stomping around on stage fronted by a couple of rock misfits. Masterminds Will Roan (vocals) and Simon O'Connor (guitar), the band has a rotating cast of a dozen or so friends.

They have just released their debut album 'Rewild,' consisting of airy escalating tunes like 'Roverfrenz,' Tunes that take you back to the early Britpop era where you are reminded of a raw Blur or the Stone Roses. They have infused a cool pysch- rock sound that you can easily get lost in, comes served with a fresh hint of nostalgia from the good old days.

Bombay Bicycle Club.

If you haven't already, you probably will soon, hear about all of the hype pushing this band. Not only are we sheepishly following suit by plugging them too, we feel completely justified in doing so for one reason, the hype is genuine.

They opened V Festival in 2006, captivating crowds and critics with their provocative new indie. Now, three years later, the four raw teens who make up north London's Bombay Bicycle Club are ready for far greater things than merely opening huge summer festivals.

Despite being a relatively young band, they've managed to find themselves heading past the top of the London indie scene, now in a black cab on the road to the mainstream with Island Records. It's only been a year since they finished school and they have finally finished recording their debut album, 'I Had The Blues But I Shook Them Loose', which is due out 6th July.

Bound to be big tunes like 'Always like this,' have modern elements of The Strokes,  warm danceable basslines, comforted by the velvety baritone vocals of front man Jack Steadman. Blended with streaks of Buzzcocks punk and a harmonius shot of Interpol, what strikes you first with BBC music however, is their magic way with a melody.
